Scholars must create a piece of primary research that relates to the integrative paper. If desired, the research can be incorporated into the actual integrative paper.
Grading metric: Must receive an 80% or higher. Scholars are allowed to redo this assignment once in order to achieve a passing grade if they fail the first time as long as they meet the absolute deadline of March 15 of senior year. Beyond the deadline, there is no opportunity for revision. Late work will result in dismissal from the program.
Scholars must choose one of the following two options:
Option A: Design an experiment that will help answer your essential question or a key aspect of your integrative paper.
10% – Problem is stated clearly and relates to topic
10% – Hypothesis is clearly stated
30% – Design / Procedure is described in detail. Procedure is stated in a step by step process, can be replicated, and directly tests hypothesis
20% – Data is well organized and accurate
30% – Analysis and conclusions are explained and fully supported by data

Option B: Using empirical evidence, show how economic theory or models can help answer your essential question or a key aspect of your integrative paper.
10% – Clearly state and explain the economic theory or model
30% – Apply the model to the essential question or key aspect of your paper
30% – Data is well organized and accurate
30% – Analysis and conclusions are explained and fully supported by data
